About Us

What is WSS?

Women’s Summer Solstice is a yearly gathering for women and girls to celebrate the Summer Solstice as humans have done for thousands of years, all over the globe.

This event has been happening annually since 1988, offering healing and connection to all who participate.

We connect  with sisters, daughters, mothers, grandmothers and with Mother Earth.  We take time to honor the life stages of girls and women with beautiful “Rites of Passage” Ceremonies for First Bloods (girls who have begun their menses), Mothers, and Crones. Additional ceremonial acknowledgements are prepared for women who feel called to step into Queen, Amazon, Fairy and many more of the Archetypes that fill and define us. During our time together, we gather in sacred circle to sing, celebrate, and honor each other as women.  We offer sweat lodges, moon lodges, and many sacred woman- focused spaces to explore and experience.

There are a variety of workshops offered by participants and a Divine Beauty area to receive (and give) hands-on healing and pampering.  Our community marketplace is open to all, to buy and sell handmade wares and spirit/wellness based goods.

Our gathering is held near I-90. east of Snoqualmie Pass, Washington State.

Each year we joyfully welcome new women, and lovingly greet women we have been gathering with for many years.

WSS Council

Women’s Summer Solstice is produced entirely by women who step up to our Planning Council. The WSS Council meets from October through June to organize the event, coordinating work-groups that attend to many details in the months preceding the event. If you would like to get involved in preparations before the event, please contact us, your offering of support will be gladly accepted! There will be an opportunity to “step up” to Council for 2025 at our closing circle. There are many roles and tasks that can be done at home, and the joy of working together is it’s own reward!

Come join the sisterhood!

Vision Statement

We invite women to participate in a feminine-centered, non-hierarchical community to connect with, and celebrate, the Divine Feminine in earth-based ways.

We support the empowerment of women from birth to death by providing opportunities for education, experience, self-discovery and growth. We come together to deepen our sisterhood; to express our truths and to listen and witness without judgment.

We create sacred space that promotes common welfare by being respectful and holding ourselves, and others, as capable and accountable.

We act with integrity in word and deed and are deeply respectful and trusting of The Mystery.

WSS Council Agreements

The following was developed by the 2014-2015 WSS Council, a list of mutually
agreed-upon values that guide our working as a collaborative community.

• Honor the woman’s way: the process IS the goal. HOW we treat each other is
as important as the work we get done.

• Honor the divine within oneself and the gifts that each woman brings: We
listen with an open mind, set aside judgments and cultivate compassion. We are
willing to change, willing to learn.

• Commitment to our Community: We tend the tasks we’ve undertaken in a
timely and conscientious way.

• Honor our own health and well being. We take care of our needs and ask for
help when we need it.

• Express Gratitude: We foster an environment for open communication and
positive relationships by expressing gratitude regularly for each other’s
community service.

• Sowing trust within our community: We agree to make WSS business decisions
with transparency – with each other and the larger WSS Community. We agree to
speak respectfully with and about one another during and outside of our
meetings, honoring personal privacy.

• Honor our meeting time constraints: we have the highest intention to show
up on time for our meetings and stay until the end.

• Respect for meeting agenda, facilitator and topic at hand: We have much business
to attend to so we agree to self-regulate by staying on topic. We are willing
to accept a gentle reminder about this when needed, gracefully and without
offense.

• Decision-Making: Whenever possible, we strive to make decisions by
consensus. If necessary, we use majority vote.

• Step up, Step back: We offer our perspectives during discussions and our
hands-on help for getting things done; we also open the space for others to
speak and/or step forward.

• Deal with challenges with integrity: If we disagree with another’s point
of view, we lean into the challenge with love. If emotions arise, we remember
that our reactions teach us valuable lessons. When we feel the need to work
through an issue with someone in the group, we do so compassionately, in a
timely way, through direct conversation on the phone or in person (not e-mail).
If a 3rd person would be helpful to “hold space” for clearing, we request
support from another in Council.

• WSS Vision: We agree to hold sacred and follow the guidance of the WSS
Vision.

Diversity

Diversity is deeply honored in our community. It is part of our Vision Statement.   We warmly welcome female-born women and girls of all ages, races, cultures, spiritual traditions, styles, sexual orientations, as well as anyone who is living as a female on a daily basis and has “female” on her driver’s license.  Baby boys, and boys through age 5 are also welcome.
